Are you facing a potential divorce and you need help? If you’re getting a divorce, planning to ask for divorce or if your spouse has recently asked for divorce, you may have a lot of questions. There are many things that are probably going through your mind right now. You need help with your divorce and it can’t come a moment too late.

So what can you do? First, you’re going to need legal help. Even if you think the two of you can handle this without lawyers being involved, you’re going to want to get help or at the very least legal advice. Sometimes couples with the best of intentions still end up fighting over certain legal matters. You don’t want to end up with the short end of the stick because you didn’t protect yourself.

If there are children involved in the marriage and divorce, it is especially important that you get help. Not only are you going to need help with them from a legal standpoint regarding custody, child support and other related issues but they may also need counseling and therapy of their own to deal with the divorce.

You should not neglect your child’s needs during this time as well. There are many resources that can help you when it comes to this. You may find that you need therapy on your own and as a family even if you are a split family now.

Some other areas that you might need help with a divorce have to do with relocating. Often when you get a divorce, you may need to move to a new house or apartment. You may even need to change your jobs because of the relocation. You don’t want to try to do all of this on your own at a time when you are already very stressed. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Here are some places you can go for getting help with divorce:

• Friends and family
• Free legal aid
• A qualified family attorney
• A religious leader or teacher
• Counselor or therapist
• Books and articles
• Information found on the Internet

All of these resources can help you in different areas of getting help with your divorce. This is not the type of event in your life that you want to try to go through alone. It’s important that you get help whenever you can and from wherever you can during this time and in the first months and years after your divorce while you heal and rebuild.
